BIO as of 2001
I started AHISD in 1st Grade at Woodridge Elementary with Mrs. Barron.
2 months after graduation from AHHS I moved to Maryland, where I have
lived ever since. I attended University of Maryland and graduated with
a B.S. in Business Administration. I also took courses at UT in the summers
of 73 and 74. Those were great times! Oat Willie's, Soap Creek Saloon,
the Armadillo, Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic.
After graduation from UM I became disillusioned with the idea of becoming
a stockbroker and instead decided to find employment in the music field,
where I ended up as a manager for Waxie Maxie's, a chain of record stores
in the DC Area. I was with them for 14 years until the company was sold
in 1990. Those years working around music were the greatest years of my
life. Music has always been very important to me, as my greatest memories
revolve around the music of the times. I learned to appreciate and enjoy
many different styles of music that I had not be exposed to before, although
the British Invasion 1964-67 will always remain my favorite period in
music. Some of the benefits of working in the music world included getting
free LP's (I'm up to 6000 LP's and CD's) and concert tickets and meeting
many people in the entertainment industry.
Since 1990 I have worked for Maryland National Bank, NationsBank and Bank
of America in a variety of capacities.
Currently I am a Senior Teller and Teller Coach. I married in 1982, divorced
shortly thereafter and remarried in 1989. I have a daughter, Rachel,
who is in 5th Grade and the love of my life. It's through her that I've
discovered a love for children and teaching that I didn't know I had.
Subsequently, I became very involved in her school, joining the PTA and
being their Treasurer for 1 year, President for 2 years, and Delegate
on the county level for another. I am now helping out in her Girl Scout
troop.
One of my proudest moments has been impersonating Abe Lincoln every February
for the last 5 years. It began as a joke, when someone at work commented
how much I looked like him with a beard, so I decided to have fun with
it. It has become one of the anticipated annual events at the school.
My other interests besides music are the stock market, baseball (Baltimore
Orioles & Houston Astros), attending cultural events (my favorite
is the Kennedy Center), yardwork, watching Sci-Fi programs, looking at
reference books and playing trivia games..
Adventure? Not too much, really. Have been to LA, Nova Scotia (honeymoon),
and Hawaii, where I attended a BPW Convention as a MD delegate and did
the hula in front of many people!!
My advice to others would be to show respect for all people, have a sense
of humor and don't take everything too seriously.
I hope to be remembered as a caring, loving person who enjoyed making
people laugh.
On a sad note, I lost my brother Bobby in 1974 when he was hit by a car.
I still miss him :(
